It is striking how Chik-fil-A’s corporate donations were in the news the same week as Sally Ride’s death.

While we celebrated her achievements, the very real and negative impact that corporate sponsorship of bigotry had on her life and on that of her grieving partner of 27 years was unfortunately left undiscussed. We all enable hatred when we allow it to remain abstract.

There are real people and real families that are damaged by it daily.
